Live! Casino Virginia to open in Petersburg on January 22
Cordish Co. and Bruce Smith Enterprise to open 900 slot temporary facility
The Cordish Companies and Bruce Smith Enterprise are excited to announce the grand opening of Live! Casino Virginia in Petersburg on January 22, 2026.
The opening of the temporary gaming facility marks an important milestone in bringing new jobs, economic activity, and tourism to the region while construction advances on the $1.4bn permanent destination next door, planned for 2027.
The 75,000-square-foot temporary casino will host more than 900 slot machines, over 30 table games, a bar, and a quick-service restaurant, along with more than 1,000 parking spaces. It will remain in operation until the permanent complex is completed in 2027. The permanent facility will cover 445,000 square feet and include 1,600 slot machines, more than 60 table games, a 200-room hotel with suites, a sportsbook, nearly 20 food and beverage outlets, and more than 70,000 square feet of convention and entertainment space.
