Couple charged with fraud after alleged cheating at Crown Sydney
Australian authorities have charged a Kazakhstani couple with fraud after they allegedly used a hidden camera and earpieces to win more than A$1.2m at Crown Sydney.
A Kazakhstani couple has been charged with fraud after allegedly using concealed technology to win approximately A$1.2m (US$780,000) at Crown Sydney across October and November.
According to New South Wales Police, casino staff raised concerns after noticing a camera hidden on the 36 year old woman’s shirt. The pair were arrested on Thursday, and investigators later confirmed the presence of a small camera integrated into a Mickey Mouse and Pluto top.
Police allege the couple used the device, along with a mobile phone and discreet earpieces, to obtain visual access to card tables and receive betting instructions during games. The 44 year old man and his partner were charged the following day.
Authorities said the investigation was conducted in close cooperation with casino security teams.
